Wedding dress rental website: collection and fittings

A wedding dress rental website lets brides browse by code, see rental prices and deposits, and book a fitting themselves. 7 things it needs, built free.

In wedding season, every wedding dress rental shop gets dozens of messages a day: “is this one available”, “how much”, “what deposit”, “can I try it tomorrow”. A website that shows your pieces by code, lists rental prices and lets brides book a fitting answers most of those questions for you. Here is what a rental site for wedding dresses, traditional dresses and groom suits should include.

Quick summary: a wedding dress rental website needs 7 things:

  1. A coded collection
  2. Clear prices: per day, package, deposit
  3. Real photos, true colours, every angle
  4. Let brides pick pieces and book a fitting
  5. Packages for each occasion
  6. Rental policies: alterations, cleaning, late returns, cancellations
  7. Get on Google Maps and social media

1. A coded collection

When you have hundreds of dresses, the easiest way for brides and staff to talk about the same piece is to give each one a code, such as WD-101 for gowns or S-401 for suits. A bride sends the code and your staff know exactly which one.

Group the collection by type: wedding gowns, traditional or ceremony dresses, bridesmaid and family outfits, groom suits. List colour and available sizes, and let visitors filter by type.

2. Clear prices: per day, package, deposit

Price is the first question. For each piece, show:

  • Daily rent for brides who need it for one event.
  • Wedding package price, for example 3 days covering fitting, the day and return.
  • Security deposit paid at pick-up and refunded when the piece comes back in good condition.

If you prefer not to list every price, at least show “from …” per category. Brides compare several shops, and clear prices bring them through the door.

3. Real photos, true colours, every angle

Gowns differ in fabric, lace and volume. Good photos let brides shortlist before visiting:

  • A full-length shot on a mannequin or hanger against a plain background in daylight.
  • Close-ups of lace, buttons and the train.
  • True colours: ivory, cream and off-white shift easily with heavy editing.

Phone photo tips are in our guide to product photography with your phone. Ask permission before posting real brides wearing your pieces.

4. Let brides pick pieces and book a fitting

This saves the most back-and-forth. Put a heart “Try this” button on each piece: brides tap the ones they like, up to about five. The chosen codes fill the fitting form automatically, along with:

  • Date and time of the fitting.
  • Wedding date, so you know if there is time for alterations.
  • Number of people coming, so you can prepare the room.

The request reaches your WhatsApp or becomes a row in Google Sheets; see the Google Forms guide. When the bride arrives, her pieces are already waiting.

5. Packages for each occasion

Many families rent everything for one event. A few ready-made packages make choosing easier and raise the value of each order:

  • Engagement or ceremony package: outfits for the couple and matching family outfits.
  • Full wedding day: two gowns for ceremony and party, plus the groom’s suit.
  • Pre-wedding photo package: three outfits, bouquet and veil on loan.

Show the price, what is included and the rental length, with a “Choose this package” button that adds it to the booking. If couples need invitations too, point them to a free online wedding invitation.

6. Rental policies: alterations, cleaning, late returns, cancellations

Writing policies down avoids disputes at return time:

  • Alterations: are small changes to the waist, hem and straps free?
  • Cleaning: do you handle it, or must the renter?
  • Late returns: how much per extra day.
  • Damage: how tears or heavy stains are charged.
  • Cancellations: how far ahead for a deposit refund, and how much.

Add a short rental process: choose pieces, book a fitting, pay a deposit, collect before the wedding, return after. Brides see what comes next at a glance.

7. Get on Google Maps and social media

Brides search for “wedding dress rental near me” or by city. Create a Google Maps listing (see how to add your business to Google Maps) and add your website link there and on Instagram and TikTok.

Put QR codes linking to your collection at the counter and in fitting rooms, so brides can reopen the pieces they saw when they talk it over at home.

Build your dress rental website for free

You don’t need to hire a developer. See how to create a free website, or open the wedding dress rental template in the free website template library. Change the shop name, photos, codes and prices of each piece, packages, policies and contact details, and go live in about 5 minutes. The coded collection, heart button and fitting form are already built in.

Frequently asked questions

Should I show rental prices publicly?

Show at least a starting price, or the price of each piece. Brides compare several shops, and clear prices make them book a fitting instead of messaging about every dress.

I have hundreds of dresses. Can they all go online?

Yes. Give each a code and group them by type. The page shows about 12 first, and visitors tap Show more or filter to see the rest, so it stays fast on phones.

Should dresses be photographed on a model or a mannequin?

A mannequin or hanger is fine if the light is good and colours are true. Ask permission before posting photos of real brides.

Can fitting bookings clash?

A simple website does not lock your calendar. Each request reaches your WhatsApp or Google Sheets; you check and confirm. Say "we confirm the same day".
